Assistant Bar Manager

Chicago’s First Lady, the industry leader in Chicago tours and private events is seeking an Assistant Bar Manager to join our exciting and high-volume workplace. Serving Chicago for over 80 years, our company has grown to include seven vessels operating every April - November from our dock at the Southeast corner of the Michigan Avenue Bridge. The Assistant Bar Manager supervises the beverage service team, training and guiding staff on all service and preparation of beverages. This individual works directly under the Director of Bar Operations and Bar Manager(s) to accomplish departmental goals, strategies, and objectives, while ensuring quality product, maximum guest satisfaction and meeting budgetary profit margins.

This a full-time, seasonal position (April - October)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Ensures sufficient staffing of all tours and charters

• Assists in conducting training for all bartenders, barbacks and beverage sales staff

• Supervises all related areas in the absence of the Director of Bar Operation or Bar Manager

• Ensures that all policies and procedures are being followed by all bar staff

• Utilizes Toast and Yellow Dog tracking systems to effectively track inventory transfers between boats

• Assists with weekly scheduling of staff

• Ensures that beverage employees have all required certification & training

• Enforces the standards of appearance, grooming and image guidelines of beverage personnel

• Performs routine inspection of all bar areas and equipment

• Attends and assist with departmental meetings as required

• Coordinates with Charter Sales team on procurement and execution of special requests

• Collaborates with management team on promotions and special projects

• Additional related duties as requested

Job Specifications

• Work prefers an associate’s degree or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or equivalent combination of education and experience

• Work requires at least 3 years food and beverage experience and/or training or equivalent combination of same

• Work prefers at least 2 years supervisory experience

• Basset certification

• Work requires effective communication in English, both verbal and written form in a professional manner

• Must present a neat and professional appearance

• Requires professional interactions with customers, public and co-workers

• Physical requirements include bending, carrying, lifting 25 lbs, standing, sitting, walking

• Flexible schedule is required, which includes weekends and holidays

• Work requires basic computer skills and competency in Word, Excel, Windows Office, POS System
